At New Beginning Recovery Recovery Community, we have built a treatment team that inspires hope and recovery among the young men who enter our sober living homes in Los Angeles, California. In fact, some of our recovery staff are also alumni of New Life Recovery. We also partner with professionals to provide clinical services for our program participants. A New Beginning Recovery alumni, Howard went back to college and underwent CADC training in recovery. He has spoken on panels, in treatment centers, community centers, schools, with parents, students, teachers, law enforcement and mental health providers to give insight on issues that are impacting young people today. Our structured sobriety programs, compassionate staff, supportive community and decades of experience support young men and their families at every step on their path to recovery.
Many of our partners have worked with us for several years, and all are considered part of the New Life family. Colby is a graduate of the program and has been involved with the community for over four years. He is passionate about recovery and strives for helping anyone he comes in contact with find their own passion for their recovery and their lives. He’s had experience night managing at New Life East for 6 months as well as weekend managing at East for about 9 months as well. Colby enjoys making new connections with everyone he meets, and has positive outlook on life. Sebastian has been participating in drug and alcohol treatment and recovery for over a decade, and has a passion for assisting people as they work through areas of life similar to the ones that he has struggled with.

Howard Barker handles all of the outreach and community engagement at New Beginning Recovery. He works to spread education and awareness on issues surrounding mental health and substance abuse as well as help families navigate the difficult waters of getting a loved one help. Howard has spent the past 8 years working with young adults and their families, being a support during times of crisis. Spending time in a sober living home not only allows you to meet new people New Beginning Recovery and access valuable resources, but it helps prevent relapse. You have worked too hard in your recovery to take that risk, and that is why we are here to help.
He is passionate about both mindfulness and psychiatry, and seeks to blend the two. Although he primarily focuses on TMS and psychopharmacology, he is trained in various modalities of psychotherapy including CBT, DBT, EMDR, and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. He is a clinical instructor at UCLA, and has been selected to be on the list for Southern California Super Doctors for 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, and 2015.

- Sebastian has worked with New Beginning Recovery in a variety of roles, and spent time both directing the houses and focusing on the alumni, as well as working with the clinical team at Clear Recovery Center.

This program helped me get my children back in my care and today I have a home for them. Dominic is the Manager at New Life West, and is a graduate of New Beginning Recovery himself. As such, Dominic has a comprehensive understanding of the program, and a love for helping others actualize their recovery. Outside of the recovery home, Dominic is a passionate skydiver, surfer, and fisher. At New Beginning Recovery, in addition to strengthening life skills, growing community, and developing character, our young men have the opportunity to participate in a number of curated higher education opportunities. Our 12-Step Social Program for recovery from substance abuse includes therapy, peer support and medication management for you to recover safely.

At our sober living homes for men in Los Angeles, we incorporate the entire family into the structured recovery process. Our family therapy programs allow families to get involved in the recovery process, as well as connect with other families to build community along the way. Steven Graduated Miracle in 2021 and has been sponsoring and showing up for the guys ever since.
Dr. Lichtman brings his extensive experience with addiction psychiatry to serving the young men of New Beginning Recovery. After the house, he spent time case managing at Clear Recovery Center, facilitating groups about sobriety. Cole has a unique passion for helping young men recover and create the life they’ve always dreamed of.
One of the primary benefits we offer our residents is there is no set limit to the length of residency. We understand the importance of allowing them to work on your recovery at their own pace. In the early 1990s, many families of teenagers and young men approached New Beginning Recovery to help address their son’s addictions. At the time, long-term, sober living resident services for teens and young men in Los Angeles were unavailable. Soon after admitting the younger people, certain things became apparent. The disparity in their emotional ages, social skills, and life experiences was significant enough to require different approaches for each group of men for sobriety.
He opened New Beginning Recovery, a group of facilities for young men’s sober living in Los Angeles. With this, he had a vision of helping men abstain from alcohol and drug dependence. To add, he wanted to transform their lifestyles and teach them life skills necessary to succeed.
I came to New Beginning Recovery of Hope with nothing but the clothes on my back. Jada and her team and my sisters at New Beginning Recovery of Hope have encouraged me and helped me get to where I am today. They have helped me gain so many tools and resources that I need to flourish.
